Child Find & Referrals Information

Child Find is a requirement under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that ensures all children with disabilities who may need early intervention or special education services are identified, located, and evaluated. To qualify for Early Intervention or Special Education, children must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in IDEA.

If you suspect your child may have a disability that impacts their learning or development, please contact one of the following:

• Your child’s teacher, counselor, or principal (if they are currently enrolled in school)

• The Special Education Department at 605-279-2156

Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records

Each spring, the Wall School District will provide a notice of Destruction of Special Education Records for parents/guardians and students age 18 or older, informing them of their right to obtain copies of these records before they are permanently destroyed.

As a parent or guardian of a child with a disability, you have specific rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These rights are designed to ensure you are informed and involved in decisions about your child’s education.
